Romanesque Wall Painting in Westphalia

The film team of the LWL-Medienzentrum accompanied Anna Skriver and Katharina Heiling during their research work from summer 2012 to spring 2016.

At the various locations they report on their impressions and results, and explain the circumstances of the creation of the wall paintings and their art historical significance.

Daniel Huhn’s film takes the examinations by the project members as an occasion to give people who are interested but have no specialised knowledge an understanding of figurative Romanesque wall paintings in Westphalia. For questions about the present-day importance of the paintings, local people are also involved, such as vicars, members of the parishes and visitors.
